The Hague’s Best Coffee Spots

The Hague might be known for international courts and government buildings, but its coffee scene is quietly becoming one of the best in the Netherlands. From specialty roasters to cozy neighborhood cafes, here are 10 coffee shops worth visiting in 2026.

1. Single Estate Coffee Roasters

Located on Piet Heinstraat, Single Estate is the go-to spot for serious coffee lovers. They roast their own beans in-house and the baristas know their craft. Try their single-origin pour-over — it changes weekly based on what’s fresh. Must try: Flat white with their house espresso blend.

2. BOON Coffee

Hidden on Prinsestraat, BOON is a tiny specialty cafe with a big reputation. They serve Manhattan Coffee Roasters beans and make one of the best cortados in town. The space is small but the vibe is perfect for a quick morning stop. Price: €3.50 for a cappuccino.

3. Filtro

A specialty coffee bar on Papestraat with a Scandinavian-minimalist interior. Filtro takes their filter coffee seriously — they offer V60, Chemex, and AeroPress options. The baristas will happily talk you through the bean selection. Great for remote work with reliable WiFi.

4. Haley’s Comet Breakfast Club

Not strictly a coffee shop, but their brunch + specialty coffee combo on Piet Heinstraat is unbeatable. They use Bocca coffee beans and serve everything from classic espresso drinks to cold brew. Come before 11am on weekends or expect a queue.

5. Bartine

A bakery-coffee hybrid on Piet Heinstraat. Their cardamom buns are legendary, but the coffee holds its own — they use beans from local roaster Single Estate. Great for a quick coffee and pastry before exploring the city center.

6. DuckRabbit Coffee

DuckRabbit on Zoutmanstraat roasts their own beans and takes a playful approach to coffee. Their espresso is bright and fruity — not for those who prefer dark, bitter roasts. The space doubles as a small art gallery. Vibe: Hip but unpretentious.

7. Perron X Coffee

Near Hollands Spoor station, Perron X is perfect if you’re arriving by train. They serve Giraffe Coffee Roasters beans and do excellent batch brew for those in a hurry. Limited seating but the quality is worth standing for.

8. Capriole Cafe

Part of the Capriole fashion concept store on Prinsestraat, this cafe serves excellent coffee in a beautifully designed space. It’s a bit pricier (€4+ for a cappuccino) but the atmosphere makes up for it. Great for a relaxed afternoon with a book.

9. Lot Sixty One

Technically Amsterdam-born, but their Denneweg location brings the same quality to The Hague. They roast beans on-site and the smell hits you before you walk in. Their batch brew is consistently excellent and only €2.50.

10. Espresso at Work

On Toussaintkade, this spot caters to the remote-work crowd. Fast WiFi, plenty of power outlets, and solid coffee from local roasters. It gets busy on weekdays but the large tables make sharing easy. Best for: Working remotely for 2-3 hours.

What to Know Before You Go

Most Hague coffee shops open around 8:00-9:00 AM and close by 5:00-6:00 PM. Sundays often have shorter hours. Payment by card is universal — cash is rarely needed. Tipping is appreciated but not expected (rounding up is common).
