All Saints’ Day opens with sunshine in Barcelona, calm streets in Madrid and Barcelona after a tense Saturday, and inflation sitting at its highest level in more than three years. Here is what internationals in Spain need to know today.
City news
Warm All Saints’ Day before the cold arrives
Barcelona can expect a calm, sunny Sunday for Tots Sants (All Saints’ Day), with a clear contrast between cool mornings and warm middays. Minimum temperatures are lower, but highs should reach 22 and 23 ºC. The rise is only temporary, and a marked drop in temperature is expected to follow.

Madrid’s Saturday passes quietly despite Blocus call
Madrid got through Saturday without incidents, despite a call linked to the platform ‘Blocus’. Strikes, protests and transport disruption
Sol camp starts to break up ahead of 11-N strike
In Madrid, most of the working groups of the Acampada 26S protest camp in the Puerta del Sol will gradually leave the square and take their protest out to the neighbourhoods as they prepare for the general strike on 11 November (known as 11-N). Some campers are refusing to leave, and tensions inside the camp continue. Anyone with plans for 11 November should keep an eye on strike announcements.

In Valencia, a march marking two years since the DANA floods (DANA is the Spanish term for the kind of storm system that caused them) called for “truth and justice”. Cost of living
Inflation holds at 4.9 percent
Official figures released on Friday show that Spanish inflation stayed at 4.9 percent in October, its highest level since February 2023. The data comes one month before an election in which the cost of living will be a major issue, so household bills are likely to dominate the campaign.

What it means for foreign residents
- If you have travel, appointments or deliveries planned for 11 November, check for disruption linked to the general strike (20minutos Madrid).
- Self-employed residents in the Madrid area who might need sick leave, or who plan to keep working past retirement age, may want to look at the new support and the Tarifa Cero extension (20minutos Madrid).
- Tenants worried about a new owner changing how their building is rented can contact groups such as the Sindicato de Inquilinas (20minutos Madrid).
- With inflation still high and an election coming, expect the cost of living to stay at the centre of the news (The Local Spain).
