Today’s digest covers water restrictions for businesses across England, a step towards international trains stopping at a second London station, and new plans to manage dockless bikes. It also includes two crime and tragedy reports and one shopping item.

Businesses in England face possible water bans as drought continues

Three water companies want to impose “non-essential use bans” on businesses as the drought continues across most of England. Golf clubs and private schools could be barred from using mains water on their courses and playing fields, and commercial car washes could be stopped from operating. The drought is putting rivers and wildlife under heavy pressure. If you run a business or depend on one of these services, check your water company’s announcements.

International trains at a second London station move closer

In London, Mayor Sadiq Khan says a plan for international trains to stop at a second major station in the capital is almost “over the line”. He has applied for a Business Rate Retention Zone to help fund the new rail stop, which is linked to Stratford. If the plan goes ahead, people living in east London would have another way to reach continental Europe by train.
