Reddit is joining the S&P 500 index. The change takes effect on Tuesday, August 18. It is a major milestone for a company that only went public in March 2024.
Reddit confirmed the move in a statement this week. The addition is an off-cycle index change. It was prompted by the acquisition of a current S&P 500 member. The company now ranks among the 500 largest public firms in the United States.
The numbers behind the promotion are strong. Reddit’s total revenue passed $2 billion in 2025. That is a jump of 69 percent year over year. Net income reached $530 million. That figure improved by more than $1 billion from 2024.
The momentum carried into 2026. The second quarter marked eight straight quarters of revenue growth above 60 percent. The company is GAAP profitable. Its gross margins sit above 90 percent.
Chief Financial Officer Drew Vollero framed the milestone in simple terms. “Reddit’s raw materials are special,” he said. He pointed to the growth and consistency the company has built since listing.
Reddit’s scale is striking. The platform holds more than 26 billion posts and comments. It is the third most visited website in the US, according to Semrush. Its data is also valuable to AI firms. Those companies use Reddit conversations to train and ground their models.
Joining the index has real consequences. Index funds must now buy the stock. That tends to lift demand and visibility. It also raises the bar for future results. Reddit enters as one of the fastest-growing names in the index.
The promotion caps a fast rise. Reddit has become a defining internet platform of the AI era. Its inclusion is a signal that the market sees staying power.
