Apple iPhone 18 Launch Date Leaked: Here’s What We Know

A fresh leak from a usually reliable supply chain source has pinned down the expected launch date for Apple’s iPhone 18 lineup — and it looks like mid-September 2026 is when Tim Cook will take the stage. The leak, originating from a major Asian component supplier, points to Tuesday, September 15, 2026 as the most likely date for the iPhone 18 reveal event.

Four Models, One Big Change

Apple is expected to stick with a four-model lineup: the iPhone 18, iPhone 18 Plus, iPhone 18 Pro, and iPhone 18 Pro Max. But the biggest hardware story this year may be what’s happening under the hood. Multiple reports indicate that Apple’s first in-house 5G modem — codenamed “Sinope” — will debut in at least the standard iPhone 18 and 18 Plus models, ending years of reliance on Qualcomm.

The Pro models are expected to retain Qualcomm modems for one more generation, largely due to mmWave 5G support requirements in the US market. This split-modem strategy mirrors Apple’s gradual transition from Intel to Apple Silicon on the Mac side.

Camera and Display Upgrades

The iPhone 18 Pro Max is tipped to receive a significant camera upgrade in the form of a new 48-megapixel telephoto lens with 6x optical zoom, up from the current 5x. The tetraprism design that Apple introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro Max is being refined for better low-light performance. The standard iPhone 18 may finally get a 120Hz ProMotion display — a feature that has been Pro-exclusive since the iPhone 13 Pro.

iOS 20 and Apple Intelligence

The hardware will ship with iOS 20, which is expected to bring the biggest expansion of Apple Intelligence features since the platform launched. Rumours point to on-device AI agents that can perform multi-step tasks across apps — booking flights, editing photos, and managing calendars — without sending data to the cloud. Privacy remains the key differentiator from Google and Samsung’s AI approaches.

Pricing: Holding the Line?

Despite inflationary pressure and component cost increases, Apple is reportedly aiming to hold iPhone 18 pricing flat with the iPhone 17 generation. That means a starting price of $799 for the base model, $899 for the Plus, $1,099 for the Pro, and $1,199 for the Pro Max. If accurate, this would mark the third consecutive year without a US price increase — a notable achievement in the current economic climate.
