FC Barcelona beat Racing 7-2 at the Spotify Camp Nou and remain top of LaLiga. The result also means Barça have won their first seven games of the season in all competitions, which the club says has never happened before in its history.
A record goal tally after six matchdays
Barça now have 18 points from six LaLiga matchdays and have scored 28 goals, an average of 4.6 per game. According to the club, no team has scored more after six matchdays since the 1940/41 season, when Sevilla scored 32 despite winning only four of their first six games. The previous club record for this stage of the season was 23 goals, set in both 2011/12 and 1950/51.
The team has scored five or more goals in five of its seven games this season, which the club describes as a first in Spanish football. Only Athletic Club (2-0) and Levante (2-4) conceded fewer than five. Early goals have been a pattern for the 2026/27 side: against Racing, Barça scored before the 10th minute for the fourth match in a row.
Raphinha and Lamine Yamal lead the way
Raphinha (9) and Lamine Yamal (7) have scored 16 of the 28 league goals between them. The last time two teammates reached 16 goals together in the first six matchdays was also in 1940/41, when Sevilla’s Campanal and Torrontegui and Atlético Madrid’s Pruden and Campos did it. That was 86 seasons ago.
Raphinha has 11 goals in seven games across all competitions, including two against Dutch side Feyenoord in the Champions League. No Barça player has scored as many in the first seven games since Mariano Martín scored 12 in the 1943/44 season. Lamine Yamal scored late in the match and has now scored in four LaLiga matches in a row, a personal record.
A rare scoreline, seen twice this year
A 7-2 is unusual in football, but Barça last won by that score 182 days ago, when they beat Newcastle on 18 March in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16. The club’s last 7-2 in LaLiga was in February 1993, when Johan Cruyff’s team beat Sporting de Gijón.
